Home for the Holidays

Keep your holidays happy.

As the holidays approach, it’s important to think about ways to keep your holidays joyful!

Bake with Family and Friends

Making gingerbread houses, decorating holiday cookies, and cooking potato latkes provide  great opportunities for holiday merriment. Find traditional or creative recipes, a group of loved ones, and begin. You can turn it into a competition or a potluck in order to help everyone participate. Check out these 54 easy holiday recipes

Organize a White Elephant Gift Exchange

Instead of giving gifts to everyone, begin a new tradition with family and friends and start a white elephant gift exchange. Each person finds one gift (decide as a group if they will be practical or funny gifts) and wraps it. Once everyone is together, start with one person and have them open any gift. The next person can choose to steal the gift the other person unwrapped or unwrap a different item. Hint- you may want to limit the amount of times a gift is stolen. Most games of white elephant limit an item to being stolen just twice. For great white elephant gifts under $20, check out these suggestions from BuzzFeed.

Pause for Gratitude

While Thanksgiving is more often associated with thankfulness, instilling moments of gratitude into your holiday season is essential. This also provides you with opportunities to remember loved ones who are no longer with us. Take a moment to appreciate what you have and everyone special in your life.

Donate to a Meaningful Charity

While the holidays can be filled with cheer for some, for others it brings about anxiety, sadness, or fear. Reach out to friends and family who may be hurting and offer support. If you are able, consider donating to a charity that you’re passionate about to better help your community. GoFundMe has pulled together a list of the 25 best charities based off ratings from from Charity Watch

ColdFAid donates a portion of its proceeds to Families Fighting Flu. As of December 13, the flu came early this year and has already taken the lives of 1,300 people as reported by the CDC

Families Fighting Flu is dedicated to educating others on the dangers of the flu and to providing preventative measures through annual flu shots.

Stay happy, safe, and healthy this holiday season!

Happy Holidays from all of us at Cold FAid!
